Hi there— I’m Lydia Prendergast (she/her), author and poet examining the world we live in through art & accessibility. With a BFA in creative writing from Emerson College, I approach poetry as both an art form and a life line. I hope to redefine what it means to write poetry, and show that it is a fluid genre meant for all.
I’m passionate about advocating for chronic illness & disability with a focus on how chronic pain impacts marginalized communities, and hope to continue doing so through my work.
My debut poetry chapbook, the seasons of hydrangeas, was published by Audience Askew in May 2023. I am now working on a poetry book about the relationship between my favorite artist, Frida Kahlo, and my disabilities.
Please feel free to explore my work in poetry, journalism, & art. Reach out with any questions or collaborations!
